Beechworth is a historic old Victorian style former gold-mining town. It has been well preserved and a holiday here is like taking a relaxing step back in time. The 19th century buildings look remarkably like you have been transported into history. In fact, it is reported to be the best preserved gold mining town in Victoria. Over 30 of Beechworth’s buildings are classified by the National Trust. The quaint town has become a popular tourist destination because of the many festivals and events that draw people here as well as the budding wine country here and appealing cafes serving delicious local delights.  It is also a popular detour stop for holiday goers travelling along the Great Alpine Road  scenic road trip.
