This is part three of our series on the best honeymoon destinations in Australia. There are so many different places to honeymoon in Australia; we have broken them down into categories. First, we told you about the most romantic island getaways, next we featured blissful beaches, and today, we are highlighting the majestic mountains. You might not immediately think of the mountains when you think of Australia, but there are beautiful peaks to visit where you can experience hiking, biking, skiing, and reach amazing heights on your honeymoon.

  1. Cradle Mountain, TAS

Cradle Mountain is located in the northwest of Tasmania, Australia’s island state. Here, you can vacation among the wilderness and the wildlife of Tasmania. You can choose to stay in one of the luxury accommodations near the mountain or you can rough it on a hiking adventure and stay in the famous Cradle Mountain huts or camp out in nature.

There are three locations in Tasmania where you can hire a vehicle for your Tasmanian adventure holiday. The closest ones to hire a car to get to Cradle Mountain Lake – Saint Clair National Park are in Davenport or Launceston. Both cities have airports so if you have flown into Tasmania or taken the ferry over from the Australian mainland, you still can have a means of getting around on your own while on the island state of Tasmania. Launceston is located in the north of Tasmania where you can rent a car at the Launceston Airport, or hire a vehicle in the city of Launceston location. The coastal city of Devonport is another location where you can hire a car in Tasmania at the Devonport Airport  or rent a vehicle in the city of Devonport. When you do hire a vehicle in Tasmania, be sure to consult with the car rental agent for guidelines about driving in Tasmania and about any specific restrictions. Much of the Tasmanian landscape is rugged terrain so be sure to let your agent know where you are going so that they can provide you with the correct vehicle, proper maps, and driving instructions. The Glass House Mountains are located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The backdrop of the Glass House Mountains is very romantic and the mountains are so majestic.

You can either camp out in the national park or stay in some of the local accommodations including lakeside retreats or country cabins. Things to do include hiking, mountain climbing, or biking, or visit the rainforest at Mary Cairncross Reserve.

Tamborine Mountain is an excellent getaway locale for your honeymoon. Experience the Queensland sun without the heat and humidity here. It is located west of Brisbane and the Gold Coast; often referred to as “the green behind the gold”. Couples here can go hiking along the Scenic Rim. Tamborine Mountain is one of the many mountains along this chain of extinct volcanoes. The land here is rich with a beautiful rainforest, majestic waterfalls, and vineyards.

The Gold Coast is located on the east coast of Australia in Queensland. Gold Coast is 69 kilometres south of Brisbane, or about an hour long trip by car.
