Music in the Mulga is a country music festival that takes place annually in the little town of Eulo, Queensland. It is located in the outback close to the New South Wales border and 874 km west of Brisbane. It is a about a 10 hour road trip from Brisbane, where you get to see a lot of the rural parts of southern Queensland’s outback. This year, Music in the Mulga takes place 18-21 May, 2017. The event features daily concerts, nightly entertainment, dancing, Sunday morning breakfast, Yabby Races, and a charity auction. Performers include George Czender, Beccy Cole, Sara Storer, and The Long and Short of It.

The Big Pineapple Music Festival is a one day blowout music event on the Sunshine Coast happening on 27th May. The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is located in the Gympie region of Queensland which is about an hour northwest of Sunshine Coast. It is held annually on the last Sunday in May. This year, it is Sunday, May 28, 2017. The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is fun for the whole family and helps celebrate the local community and brings in money to help the local economy. This is the 21st year of the festival. The program includes the now famous Great Australian Pumpkin Roll, pumpkin bowl competition, the pumpkin pull competition, the giant pumpkin competition, pumpkin decorating, a pumpkin pageant, raffles, the annual dinner dance, and more. Camping is available nearby.

The Great Wheelbarrow Race is a quirky and fun event held each year near Cairns in the Far North of Queensland. The race is a charity event that takes place May 19, 20, and 21st. The rac covers 144 km from Chillagoe to Mareeba. Last year, racers raised $200,000 for various charities.
