Tasmania’s Central Highlands are also called the heart of Tasmania. As you can see, they are centrally located in the state and accessible from either Launceston or Hobart. The Great Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Australia and it is in the centre of the Central Highlands. This is where Tasmania’s hydro-electric power comes from. There are farmlands with sheep and cattle in these highlands that look a lot like the Scottish Highlands.
